What Your Favorite Beirut Cafe Says About You

There are so many things we love about Beirut, and one of them is the abundance of charming cafes that we simply can’t get enough of. Of course, we all have our go-tos, so here is what we think your favorite café says about you.

1. Kalei Coffee Co.

You visit this spot because you love their tea. You’re not much of a coffee drinker (at least not black coffee), which is your only personality trait. But you’re typically a laidback person who frequents garden cafes to get work done or get out of your Lebanese mom’s way when she’s rage cleaning.

2. The High Llama

You know eno aham shi l terwi2a so you make sure you stop by The High Llama for one of their delicious bagels before you go thrift shopping. Your idea of going back to your roots is enjoying overpriced knefe, but you do try to support local businesses.

3. Café Younes

You appreciate the classics and love the finer things in life. When asked why you don’t want to live abroad, your answer is usually “mafi ahla men lebnen”. Your go-to anthem? Lebnan rah yerja3 by Joseph Atieh.

4. sip

You frequent sip because you’re so different. You tend to bash other Beirut cafes because they’re just not your vibe. You’re also the type to chat up foreigners and ask them “why the hell would anyone come to Lebanon?” then proceed to talk about how amazing it is despite all hardships.

5. BEYt Garden Café

You listen to Taylor Swift or you at least bop your head to a song or two. You love the aesthetics at BEYt and can’t resist teflo2 l nes stories when you’re having your routine morning coffee there.

6. The Sage Parlor

You’re a tote-owning vegan or a yoga enthusiast who posts woke AF stories and makes fruit bowls at home. You also love posting your latte with Fayrouz playing in the background because you think “l soboh l wahad bas byesma3 Fayrouz”.

7. B. Hive

The talkative friend of the group is usually at B. Hive. Yes, the one yalli ma bya3ref ysed nee3o even in awkward situations. They know almost everyone at LAU, even if they don’t go there.

8. Moon’s Café

You have a dog or are obsessed with dogs (ella kleb l solta, obviously). You love all the fresh bakes at Moon’s because you grew eating teta’s homemade sfouf and yummy lemon cakes.

9. Paul

You love Paul because you get to escape all things Gen Z. You fit in with the older (or relatively more mature) crowd at this spot la2anno enta akbar walad bel bet or the one that is the most responsible compared to your siblings.
