Germany Supporter Reportedly Shoots At Brazil Supporter In Tripoli

After Germany’s surprise 2-1 defeat against Japan yesterday, it seems tensions were as high in Berlin as they were in Bedewi. In a popularly shared clip on social media, users reported that an armed dispute occurred between cafe patrons due to the overzealous celebrations of Brazil fans.

The Brazil-supporting residents were engaging in the German concept of Schadenfreude, which is a word for the pleasure one derives from the misfortune of others.

In the video shared, fans are seen squaring up to each other on the cafe-occupied sidewalk. The footage is filmed off of a computer that presumably is attached to a nearby security camera. It is unclear what triggered the Germany supporter into firing and whether any injuries were sustained. The shooter is seen fleeing the scene after the incident occurs.

It seems that the Lebanese Germany-Brazil rivalry is intensifying for this year’s world cup. Previously a pro-Brazil banner had been spotted declaring that “we will defeat Hitler’s nephews.”

Some social media users have reported that this could potentially be a personal dispute. We hope that no serious injuries are sustained over a football game, or for any other reason. The only shooting that should be happening during this World Cup period is from attackers towards the goal.
