After losing a seat in North II district following the parliamentary elections back in May, Faisal Karami
filed an appeal before the Constitutional Council, claiming that the results were flawed. Karami was ousted by opposition candidate Rami Fanj.
According to L’Orient Le Jour, the Constitutional Council issued a decision to nullify Rami Fanj’s election and announced that the seat will be granted to Faisal Karami instead.
This decision may come as a disappointment for the many who had ambitions of seeing new independent faces in parliament, as Karami represents one of the more traditional forces that has dominated Lebanese politics over the past decade.
